South Africa cricket captain Hashim Amla resigns.
Cricketer Hashim Amla resigned from the post of South Africa cricket captain after the end of the second Test match against England at Newlands on Wednesday. According to available reports popular cricket star AB de Villiers will lead the South Africa cricket team in the remaining two Tests between England and South Africa.
When speaking Hashim Amla said that “This decision is not an easy one but the more I think about it the more I believe I can be of greater value to the Proteas as a fully focused batsman and senior player at this time of rebuilding our team,”
Further reports says that Amla had decided to step down from the captain post before the second Test. He told his teammates about his decision at the end of the match.
When he met journalists he reported that “I felt someone else could do a better job,” also this was in his plan for several weeks.
When Amla captained South Africa in 14 Test matches, he had lead the team with four winning, lost four and had drawn six test matches.
The second Test match ended in a draw, where England is 1-0 up in the four-match series. The next Test will take place in Johannesburg on January 14.
