Imran Tahir of South Africa changed the Sri Lanka’s confident run of 116 for 2 and his spin changed everything up side down when he took for 27 in 8.3 overs. Earlier South Africa made 299 with the help of the former captain Hashim Amla who had scored 103 and his 25th ODI century in this match and his fifth one against Sri Lanka.
Upul Tharanga top scored with 57 runs while Angelo Mathews didn’t play due to a calf muscle injury.
Sri Lanka were all out for 203 runs with still 8.3 overs remaining.
Mean while team Sri Lanka could be in trouble as they took four hours and seven minutes to finish their overs during the South African innings. As per the ICC rules stipulate that teams should finish their 50 overs within 3 and a half hours. Expected are heavy fines and a possible suspension of captain Tharanga for the next two games in this tournament.
