Sri Lanka Government has proposed to in crease the phone call tariff through their annual budget. So in the coming year 2014 you can expect little price increase for the local calls and the IDD calls from your mobile phone operator. It could trigger a small price increase in the phone card sector too. This budget increase will not affect the broadband, Internet and mobile internet usage prices.


Mean while offers free SMS sending facility to its customers if they are maintaining a minimum balance of Srilanka Rs.100 in their pre-paid account. There is no fee charged from the customer for the incoming text messages as the sender is charged for it.


On the other hand all the mobile phone service providers are encouraging their customers to use their monetary service to send and receive money and plenty of customers had signed up for this service. While the entire local banks here are offering the mobile banking facility for their customers through their mobile phones. Plenty young people had signed up for this latest service to access their bank accounts on the go through their Smartphones.  Smartphone prices are offered at reasonable price by the Samsung, Nokia, HTC and other Chinese mobile phone makers, where young people are giving away their older cell phones to get a new Smartphone.
